I visited Paris in August 2011 with my family and our good friend Julie. Our plan was to spend a little more than a week visiting Paris and another week in the Loire Valley where many old-world castles are located. Of course, the Hard Rock Cafe in Paris was on our agenda.
We’d planned one visit to the HRC Paris, but we ended up returning three times during our trip. We were greeted in English first but could be served in French if you insisted (it seems to cater so much more to tourists than locals). On our 3rd visit, the manager sat with us for 45 minutes. He’d recognized our Quebec French accent. Turns out he was the manager of the Hard Rock Cafe Montreal when it closed.
He was actually responsible for all eastern Canada Hard Rock Cafes including Ottawa, Toronto and Niagara Falls, before he returned to France. For me this was a very interesting conversation as we got to talk about the closure of the Montreal HRC as well as the overall strategy of the group at the time. We discussed the various HRCs we’d visited and others he’s seen and we have yet to… Believe it or not some people are a lot more fanatical about the Hard Rock Cafe than even I can be, some of them actually renovating rooms in their homes to make them look like part of a real HRC complete with rock memorabilia – which cannot come cheaply. We also discussed our trip to France and key differences with Quebec.
Like in Baltimore, I broke with tradition by not having the Local Legendary Burger. I actually followed our waitress’ recommendation on that point. In Paris the Local Legendary Burger includes cressons (which is a type of strong tasting salad) and Boursin cooking cheese.
Here are a few photos of the Hard Rock Cafe Paris along with our meals:
Here are the t-shirts bought at the Hard Rock Cafe Paris along with an older one my sister bought for me at least 15 years ago:
I encourage you to also view all my Hard Rock Cafe pictures here of t-shirts and locations. Also please check out my post on Montreal’s Hard Rock Cafe that is now closed.
