Newspapers’ mobile websites are often lacking in basic functionality, as indicated by a survey of more than 100 sites by Damon Kiesow, senior product manager for The Boston Globe. Although most redirect mobile devices to a mobile-optimized site, many are missing content and have features that don’t work. And only a handful prompt visitors to bookmark the site for easy returns or try sell an app.
As tablet ownership becomes more prevalent in the UK (but perhaps not quite as much as some report suggest), retailers will need to start looking at this area when considering responsive design.
Research by Affiliate Window found that iPad conversion rates last August were3.82% compared to 1.9% on desktop.
Among the operating systems, iOS on iPad gives the best CTR followed by iPhone and then Android devices.
